Interesting foot facts
  • Women are four times more likely to experience foot problems than men.
  • Each foot contains 26 bones (52 in two feet!) which is almost one quarter of
    the bones in

              the body.

  • The average person takes approximately 8,000-10,000 steps per day.  This
    amounts to

almost 115,000 miles in a lifetime.  This is equivalent to about 4.5 times around the world.

  • There are approximately 250,000 sweat glands in a pair of feet which excrete as much as

half a pint of moisture per day.

  • The skin on the bottom of your feet is thicker than anywhere else on your body.
  • The average foot expands around 5% in volume as the day goes on.

Respect your feet

Although feet are not often seen as the most attractive of our anatomy, they are incredibly important for movement and balance and should be given some degree of respect due to the amount of pressure and work they are subjected to in our lifetime!
